Scraped Knees

So Avery experienced her first big knee scrape today. We were walking on the sidewalk at a shopping center. Everything’s going great, beautiful day outside. Then Avery falls. And the world explodes! Well, OK, only Avery exploded, but still. After trying(unsuccessfully) to soothe her, AND stop the bleeding, I decide it’s best if we cut our shopping trip short. She cried off and on all the way home, saying “Knee! Knee!” in her most pitiful voice. We get to the house, she sees her Daddy, and immediately collapses in his arms, a sobbing mess. As if to say, “Daddy!! Look at what that insane woman let me do!!”. So Daddy held her still and I tried to clean it up and get a bit of Neosporin on. Then we all sat on the couch for awhile until she was back to her normal self.
Poor thing. I’m hoping it’s nice and scabbed by tomorrow and we can move on from this hideous injustice. Are you catching the sarcasm? I know this will be the first of many, many, MANY boo-boos. So I’m just glad we made it through the first. Hopefully she won’t be too traumatized. If her giggly demeanor through dinner(Yelling “YUMMY!!” at the waiter) are any indication, I think it’s already been forgotten.
