Birthdays Make Me Crazy
Posted by sara on September 13th, 2006. Filed under: Avery, Birthdays. When you become a mother, the second that baby is in your arms, you begin planning their birthday party. At least, that’s what you do if you’re me. Actually, I started planning as soon as I found out Avery was a girl. In the beginning, I had grand plans of a huge blow-out, homemade cake, homemade decorations, super fabulous slideshows chronicling her amazing life up until one year old. I’ve since come to my senses and amended those plans, but that does not mean I’ve overcome the First Birthday Neuroses.
Invitations are done(And AWESOME, by the way–I got mine at www.bellajackson.com), decorations have been bought, not hand-crafted. And I have a general idea on the cake–still going to do that myself. I will probably be up until 4 am the night before finishing it, but I’m sure it will be worth it.
My problem is all the little details, where are people going to park? What should I do with my guests? How do I make sure that everything goes smoothly? How am I going to get my entire house clean at one time? That hasn’t happened since my second trimester. These questions have been keeping Sara up at night. Yes, I am crazy. But really, how can a person sleep when their child’s big day is coming up? Sure, she won’t remember it, but pictures last a lifetime. And if any of you have checked out Avery’s Pics, you know I like to take pictures.
OK, so where is this blog post going, you ask? Nowhere, really. Just a little insight into one mother’s psychosis. God help me get through this thing.
