Hush-A-Bye, Big Girl

Today my little big girl hit a BIG milestone.  She moved into a big girl bed.  We converted her crib into a full bed.  Mike had to do a lot of hefting, and cursing at inadequate hardware, but he got it done.  She kept talking about her “BEAUTIFUL BED”.  With the fairy blanket, of course.

It’s now almost 10pm, and she is still sleeping peacefully in that big ol’ bed.  We read her a story before bed, Mike sitting on the edge of the bed reading, me snuggled up close to her.  She was under the covers, I was laying on top.  After her story, she looked at me and said, “Mommy, get under these covers!”  I told her that Mommy wasn’t going to sleep in her bed.  She thought about that, then said, “Can you get out then?”  So I did.  I turned off her lamp, we kissed her good night.  And just like that–my baby was a full grown girl.  No longer confined in a baby’s crib, she can sleep the sleep and dream the dreams that only big girls have.  And I hope she dreams big.

But Sara, where are the pictures of the whole, finished bed?  Well, dear readers, that will have to wait until we can get in there and sift through the mountains of toys to make her room somewhat presentable again.  Patience, it’s coming!
