A Memorial Birthday
Posted by sara on May 25th, 2008. Filed under: Birthdays, Holidays.It’s Memorial Day weekend, and for us, that means we get together with some friends and grill a bunch of meat. So today Colleen and Allan came over and we did just that. Usually David is with us(We missed you, David!) but he couldn’t make it today. But Allan gets major brownie points for braving my cat-filled house with his nasty cat allergy!
I made my mom’s potato salad for the first time ever. It was good, not as good as hers, but pretty close.
Colleen brought belated birthday cupcakes and some fabulous brownies. Avery helped me blow out the candles. Such a good helper she is. She just wanted to make sure we got to eat them FAST.
I’m pretty sure the cupcakes were Avery’s favorite part–she had two and subsequently started bouncing off the walls, forcing Colleen to do endless rounds of Ring Around the Rosey.
Colleen also brought me a FABULOUS birthday gift–a handmade necklace with my babies’ names, birthdates and birthstones. Isn’t it lovely? You can get your own here. I’m pretty sure this is my favorite birthday gift in quite some time!
So it was a good day. Colleen got lots of snuggle time with the girls, Mike and Allan did some good grilling, and everybody left with a VERY full belly and in need of a nap.
